If you're having trouble believing that after learning about the main character's amazing cup-based superpower, here's a recently posted preview video showcasing most of the gameplay elements present in Prey:Įven though this new Prey shares the name with the original classic, I must admit it reminds me less of the old Prey, and more of Bioshock. A CUP! What might come as the biggest surprise, however, is that Prey actually looks pretty damn interesting. Your character this time around is apparently some sort of alien hybrid, you're fighting against shadows that put Slenderman to shame, and one of your abilities allows you to turn into a cup. Prey (2) on the other hand. well, let's just say that things aren't as simple anymore. You played as an angry, drunken Native American that's trying to save his girl from the evil aliens in the only way he knows how - by blasting them into teeny weeny bits and pieces. You can probably imagine how much Fallout 3 has ruined things retroactively for me, as well. The original Prey was about as straightforward as it gets. ![]() As soon as I knew that everything would become shitty later, it no longer worked as a self contained story. I can't watch bring myself to watch The Matrix again either due to the god-awful sequels. Sometimes, things do retroactively get ruined by their sequels, at least if you're like me. I know that technically I could ignore all of this when I play FO1, but my brain simply wont let me. I liked them better when they were just shelters and didn't have all this Big Brother-esque conspiracy stuff attached to them. This poor (imo) decision now affects the way I feel about the vaults in the first Fallout, in a negative sense. Case in point: I can't play Fallout 1 without remembering that Fallout 2 turned all the vaults into a social experiment. ![]() The setting of Fallout, especially the first one, feels like it has been cheapened the more they've expanded the general Fallout lore. ![]() |
